I am watching the health care reform debate unfold in front of me, and today I found someone who explained it in a way that I could truly understand.
The political machine means well. At least I hope it does. I had the opportunity to hear Marian Wright-Edleman, founder of the Children’s Defense Fund speak recently in Washington, and in a grandmotherly way that had undercurrents of “Take no prisoners, we’re on a mission here!” she recounted one disconcerting statistic after the next.
Children don’t vote. They have very small voices, and their needs often come in so far under the radar that the sound of war planes and bank bailouts drown out even the loudest crying babies in the middle of the night.
Listen to my spokesman for health care reform. He speaks MY truth.
